These are some little sprite doohickies I made at Gamer Camp. It's my first time animating with Photoshop (Photoshop has animation? Mind blown!)

Since I don't think I've introduced Hitmantis yet (since I can't come up with a decent drawing for him yet), basically, he's one of the villains I created for Project Wonchop. As his name suggests, he is an assassin who's good at his job (for the kids). And the mantis part? That stems from his artificial arms which, when forced into close combat, recoils his hands (ew) and brings force giant praying-mantis like scythes to make sure there are no witnesses left.

For this task, we had to do a character doing an idle animation, a walking animation and a death animation (I skipped a run cycle due to time restrictions, which also applies to lack of inbetweens on the death animation). I drew them at this size after taking a look at some of the Ace Attorney Investigations sprites, since they would have to fit on the iPhone. (Though I might not go with this when we go onto the main iPhone game making dooflips)

if you're gonna try sprite animations, try fireworks (version 8 or older); it's way easier to use

also i feel like the shading on his cloth flows oddly, prolly just me tho

its kinda neat

Wow, I didn't know Photoshop can animate too x_x! Which version might that be I wonder? Anyways, your sprites looks pretty cool, it has an old-school feeling to it. =]

We were using CS4, but I've been told it should be in some of the older versions too.

The first animation looks like he's continuously bobbing his head.

hmmm gooda lil glitchy in parts but as you mention time restrictions and lack of inbetweens
i have always been aware of photoshops animation feature but anytime i've tried it's been fail and like meh why bother and then i go back and cuddle up to good old flash
but then pixels have their advantages so if i need to animate with pixels i usually use fireworks ^.^

keep i
